I’m sharing a video that was just published. I’m not judging this man’s presentation. As a Pro Se with little experience (I believe) I think this was a reasonable try. Where I think we can take a lesson is that he came across a bit hostile. Understandably. Any of us in a position where we must defend ourselves and our rights might come across as hostile or frustrated or annoyed. We need to control our tempers and voices. I do not yet speak from experience in the court room, but I do know that I can get pretty worked up abut things that matter to me. If I didn’t, I certainly would not have moved forward as a Pro Se litigant. It is not for the tender hearted or the meek or mild.
We have to know this and accept this but still make an effort to be in control and make sense. To not treat the court with hostility or temper or raised voices.
I do not think this man will win his appeal. I believe the court waned to see more caselaw backing his position. An appeals court, from my understanding, is not a place to re-litigate a case. It is a place to prove where the judge made an error in law or interpreting the law. I personally do not feel we saw this here.
I would add that I think this man was dressed well and in that regard showed respect to the court. However, I think he interrupted a bit and used ‘furthermore’ bit much. I do not have a solution to this, and I think I’m likely going to be falling into similar patterns when it is my turn, in 9 days. I’m interested in your thoughts and your experiences as a Pro Se defending your rights and property.
